Circe, I do not want to offend you at all because I do like you but I did find your opinion quite ignorant. My mother is an NHS nurse and goes above and beyond her duties in work including working through most of her breaks and having to either starve or eat on the go. She also can be stuck in work for up to 2hours after her shift is supposed to end because she's too busy looking after people so the fact you assume the NHS nurses are bad at their job is ridiculous. Obviously not all nurses are like my mum but I do know a lot of them and they all mostly go into nursing because they want to care and look after people.


I think you're being especially harsh considering taking blood is completely subjective to the patient on how fat/thin/vascular they are and how accessible their veins are, it obviously helps if the nurse is experienced (something which doesn't happen overnight). I also think you should take into consideration the emotional trauma nurses go through on a daily basis.



Moral of the story, nurses are angels and you don't know how many times she had to give CPR that morning.
