I personally listen to pretty much everything although I tend to find certain patterns in what I enjoy listening to most. I couldn't just dismiss artists based on their era or genre because I'd feel like I could be missing out on something.
If people tend to appreciate certain eras or genres more that's fine by me. Everyone has certain kinds of music they're more drawn to and it's all very subjective, some people might simply enjoy that more. I only really dislike it when people get condescending or snobby because it's not something within their comfort zone.
