The message he stuck on it seems pretty cool until you realize that it´s a neutered, de-politicized copy of an original message that Woody Guthrie was brave enough to display in the 1930s:-



I´d like to post a song that isn´t by Guthrie, but it´s one that shares his contentious, outspoken attitude. According to Wikipedia, "Strange Fruit was written in 1939 by Abel Meeropol, a white, Jewish high school teacher from the Bronx and a member of the Communist Party, as a protest against lynchings."
My favourite version is Nina Simone´s, from 1965:-
