Don't bother
We think we love them because we feel we are missing something in our current situations so we pine for them, but it's not quite them so much as our picture of them that we've created in our minds, made up of the best of that person. It's not real, as we learn to our sorrow
But it's still a situation that sucks on either side, so I'm sorry for your situation
