So, the namesake comes from his being the son of Steve Earle, who was also quite the fan of Townes van Zandt.

Justin Townes Earle's music wonders between country and indie. Indie as in garage rock, or singer-songwriter, etc. The country influences vary, but mostly the 70s classics such as Gram Parsons and Townes and the old timers.

So, I think that's enough of a description. But, if you're wavering, the guy prefers his music pre-1950, but he's conscious of and cognizant of musical developments since then and his music shows this.

So, here's some favorite tracks (which you can find on spotify, too, for those of you who prefer higher quality, no ads, etc):

^ the quality of this is terrible, but I do awfully enjoy how the song builds around such a fun, simplistic guitar melody.
