Hit the Road Jack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia it turns out that the track was written by a songwriter & r&b artist called Percy Mayfield, I always presumed that it was a Ray Charles composition.
It became famous after it was recorded by singer-songwriter-pianist Ray Charles with the Raelettes vocalist Margie Hendricks.
