If the basis of the outrage was about not liking general cop behaviors lately, it wouldn't have much relevance to the issue here. You do, however, strike at a particular point, and it is that people tend to compartmentalize their perspectives and operate within them individually, which often tends to equate to double standards and inconsistencies when no internal comparisons are made in order to arrive at an equitable approach to issues.

The point of the hypothetical scenario is not what the cop would do in reality, it's how people would react in reality. So you still haven't answered the question.
