No one mentioned Peter Green or else I overlooked him. Probably one of the most under rated guitarists ever

SRV
Johnny Winter
Tommy Castro
The Ice Man, Albert Collins
Jimmy Vaughan
Gary Moore
Duane Allman
Roy Buchanan
Jonny Lang
Buddy Guy
Michael Burks
and even David Gilmour can crank out some pretty good blues when he wants to

all the guitarists named in this thread are great, but even by doing a poll IMO there can be no "best". You could possibly find the most popular but that doesn't necessarily make that person the best. They all have their good points some better than others.
