Don't know your back story with this so this post will no doubt be
shit but why wouldn't you try to convince him? Don't see why not if that's what you want. As long as it's clear that's what you want but he still decides whether it's best for him personally (since he is the one moving) & it's still his choice or whatever then yeah. My ex kept asking me to move to be with her once but that would have been the worst thing ever for me (I said no btw.)
& I did a LDR once before so I can relate to how much you miss your bf
