What a total crock! Of course there are good genres. Genres have always existed, well not always but in recent times. Genres and sub-genres too. There's hip-hop, rock, heavy metal, classical, soul, r&B, and of course subgenres within those: progressive rock and metal, doom metal, neoclassical, AOR .... your post makes no sense.
Sure we all wish there were no fads like X Factor but they'll always be there. Doesn't mean good music doesn't exist, doesn't mean you have to listen to X Factor music. Man! You might as well say I wish evil didn't exist, or religion, or small purple aliens that only I can see....
