although negative comments made by the media (however corrupt that may be) tend to influence people's opinions and what they buy. and the mainstream media tends to make comments only on mainstream music. therefore, people never hear about the underground music. thus no one but the people that listen to it will ever make comments on it.

so sure, negative comments might give the mainstream music attention, but the mainstream music, the music promoted by the industry, promoted by the mainstream media, is the music that is dying. not the underground music, that is thriving.
