Honestly If I wasn't spanked as a kid I would have been even worse off then the cretin I was to begin with.
I do not however believe that having a kid brings more meaning to your life. Perhaps it gives you more purpose, however that is also debatable. It certainly does bring you great responsibility, which some people are incapable of.
