As far Noel Gallagher's song writing skills went, he only wrote 5 or 6 songs that come close in comparison to Lennon/McCartney. And most of those songs are only good because they reminded everybody of the Beatles.

I'm not a Beatles fan so I may be off the mark here, but for me, Oasis's biggest failing as a band is that they were inspired by the Beatles, which resulted in a lot of mundane crap songs like Champagne Supernova, and boring albums near the end of their career.
Wonderwall aside, Noel Gallagher's best work, Live Forever, Morning Glory, Supersonic, Put Yer Money Where your mouth is ect, all seem to be inspired by something other than the Beatles.
Simply put, they were best when they were rocking hard. and that is why no one gives a **** about Beady Eye
