I think that Matana Roberts is incredible as she has a unique style that's something of a melting pot of jazz influences. She sure knows how to blow that horn too.
Marc Ribot, Jamie Saft, Joey Baron, Uri Caine, Kenny Woolenson, Trevor Dunn, and Cyro Baptista are doing some great things both on their own and as Tzadik's (John Zorn's record label) house musicians that appear on many different records of the label.
