To me, late night talk shows are where comedians go to sell out and die. The nightly opening segments of topical humor is a formula designed for failure, network TV standards force the hosts to be bland and to rely on silly trademark schticks, and the scripted celebrity interviews are infuriatingly transparent and dull.
I mostly like Arsenio (in the 90s and now) because he talks seriously about race and other issues that all the white hosts don't touch. Or maybe they do now. I wouldn't know because I gave up watching them years ago.
