I use Fl studio for scoring good sir. All DAW's are generally the same thing, some are just more organized and can support more things than others, for example there is a big difference between Pro Tools and Fl Studio, but down to the basics they do the same thing. For my FL, i have kontakt 5 installed into it and run plug-ins like east west and things like that. you're not limited to FL's native sounds. you can put in whatever vst's you like. however if you really are keen on getting a great DAW for scoring I'd go with Logic or Ableton.
