I was in a local pawn shop the other day looking at the various CD's he had in stock. I was holding a CD by a band named The Crown, which looked quite interesting, when a guy came in the store, walked over to me, and stared at said CD I was holding. I asked if he's interested in CD's as well, and he pointed out to me that he wanted to see the one I was holding. He asked if I liked Metal, to which I replied "yes". He asked if I knew Whitechapel, and at that point I started naming some of the more popular deathcore bands such as Job For A Cowboy, Oceano, and Veil Of Maya. He then proceeded to call me a "Metal God" and walked out.
I do not talk about music to friends and family for the simple fact that they don't care about the music I care about, and if they happen to like a genre that I do, I will find obscure bands and new bands they don't know. I'm convinced that no one in my local region can boast the admiration of as many genres of music as I do. It's really quite depressing.
