Coming from a 14-year-old classically-trained (but also Beatles-trained
) son of a piano teacher, it all depends on what you're looking for. If you only want success, the classical pianist option is the way to go, as there are very few young people in that field, and if you excel at the piano, your chances are of success are better. That is the "sensible" route. However, I can tell by your post what you want to do. Follow your heart and chase your dreams. You only live once, so don't worry about what others think and say. Ever heard of Billy Joel? There is a gentleman who is one heck of a pianist, as well as an incredible vocalist. Good luck!
