As long as you're willing to chance a little frostbite then it's a pretty efficient way of stuffing one's face.

Here in Germany, Fast Food is expensive. Not as expensive as going to a restaurant, of course, but if just buy your ingredients at a supermarket and cook yourself, you can eat without really paying money, lol. Also there are many many vegetarians here, and the hype of fast food doesn't really reach us that much, maybe because we illuminate a lot about the dangers of eating processed food.
Fast food is relatively expensive, and healthy food is cheaper. Healthy food is more work though, and it's just easier to go to the drive-thru. Maybe it's that Europe is made of more compact cities (or so I hear) where you don't necessarily need a car, not to mention the price of gas, so cars aren't as big a part of your culture. Over here cars are sort of a necessary thing...even when they're not necessary. And if you have a car then it's just a question of going to the store, taking twenty minutes to buy ingredients, going home, preparing the ingredients, cooking the ingredients, eating, cleaning whatever dishes need to be cleaned, and all of this likely after a full workday. Or...you can take five minutes to go to McDonald's, get a Big Mac, and be full by the time you get home.
