You live in Philadelphia, a city that is about as old as dirt, so it was built up before cars came around. My area is...I don't know, some kind of old, but until the naval base it was a ****ty little longshoreman's town and only built up in the last few decades, so everything is spread out.

There are really only a few areas where there is any real buildup. And those are commercial districts. There are a few that are sort of historical districts that generally are kept up for historical reasons, but I imagine if they weren't protected they'd probably get bulldozed and we'd have a Wal-Mart and a few fast food joints in their place in a few months. If you wanna know why America doesn't have any culture that's why. There's really no way to interact with the place you live that doesn't involve going halfway across the city. Doesn't really encourage much more than Wal-Marts and fast food joints.
