Nah, it doesn't technically "break". They always unwind off the ball end for some reason. It's apparently pretty common for jaguar/jazzmaster owners. It has something to do with the vibrato system, but no one knows for sure WHY it actually happens. That's a head scratcher man. I have a J Bass but yeah, not the same problems. I'm not even gonna ask if you googled it.
