I'd just like to drop this in if I may, other side of the coin so to speak.

After supposedly not making one new member welcome by querying his decision to post the same thread twice (all of which led to my putting YD on Ignore) I apologised if I had caused offence. This person had not even the decency to acknowledge, never mind accept that apology. That's fine if a little rude.

Then this same member made a few snide, pointless posts in a thread I posted in and when I asked him to explain himself, to clarify why he had said what he said all I got were more one-word snide replies.

So you see, apart from established members not making noobs welcome, it can be the case that people come here as noobs, deliberately ignore etiquette and make themselves unwelcome.

Some people don't deserve to be welcomed. Won't stop me welcoming noobs when I can but I just wanted to point out that it's not all one-sided. There are people who come here and expect after a wet day to be able to act as if they own the place and know everyone, which of course links back to the SYG thread.
