I got some thoughts on this actually. Basically, I disagree, but not because I think pastors can be punks haha.

Religious or spiritual themes in general just aren't my cup of tea, Christian, Satanist, Pagan or otherwise, but it won't stop me from enjoying the vocalist's voice as another instrument in an ensemble of sound well-orchestrated. Lyrics tend to be secondary enjoyment, and the human voice is more a tool than a messenger.

I think the greatest example of this would be the great Frank Zappa. In his biography he specifically states that he didn't give a crap about the lyrics, because the human voice is just another instrument. That's why most of them are funny or total **** And that's how I view Christian lyrics in bands they don't belong. I'll simply disregard the lyrics at the time.
