I don't know what you think is so funny... cause the OP finds playing alone to be quite satisfying.
I "practice" alone and I usually do it until I get a cramp in my hand. When ever I play alone I can stop if I get a cramp. I find it hard to do when playing with others because I feel have to go on. I don't want to disappoint them so I feel I am forced to bear the pain.
