Absolutely agree with you there, I certainly enjoyed that album more than
The Satanist, but I do think you should go into it with an open mind, and try to ignore the hype until you listen yourself. I'll admit I'm usually more skeptical of an album these days if I hear a lot of acclaim, or at least go in with raised expectations that only sometimes get met.
