This week's battle centers on two well-known instrumentalists, from two well known bands, and their solo careers. Their associated projects are beloved by some, detested by others, at least vaguely known to all in the grand world of metal.... but have you ever let yourself leave those constraints and venture into what they can do on their own?
Both bring you the metals in a progressive vein, free to express themselves fully and without influence from the band members that have helped paved their journeys. Both know what the **** they're doing. And both have camps of die-hard fans who have followed these musicians throughout projects, solo or simply separate from their most spotlighted claims to fame. Hope yall are ready for some fun.... and hope yall haven't listened to these in their entirety yet. I have definitely plugged a song or two from each album.
In alphabetical order, allow me to present....
ICS Vortex of Dimmu Borgir fame and his solo album 'Storm Seeker'
and
Ihsahn of Emperor fame and his solo album 'After'
I'll leave any personal opinions or descriptions to myself lest I accidentally influence votes. Let the listening commence!
