Metal and Philosophy
One of the things that really impressed me about metal when I first started listening to it is the intelligence and philosophy of some of the song writers. Everything from Slayer and Metallica to Napalm Death and even Deicide. When I looked at the world around me and how knucklehead most people were, I was so happy to have finally found a form of music that I absolutely loved, but one that also satisfied my need for some intellectual stimulation.
Anyway, this thread isn't about music per say but about metal influenced ideas and philosophies. I remember listening to the Napalm Death album "Scum" back in the early 90's. One of the songs that stood out to me in its simplicity but truth was "Multinational corporations. Genocide of starving nations." It was such a simple concept but so full of truth, but back in the 90's that was a truth that no one else believed or was even aware of as possible. Today everyone is starting to realize this. So the mainstream is slowly starting to learn things that people in metal have known since the days of Black Sabbath.
So how has metal influence your ideas? Your views of the world.
And here is a guy who claims his whole philosophy is based on metal. He calls himself the Metalosopher. This guy's concept of free will really struck me. It's 10 videos long, I really like what he has to say.
