Kung Fu is from China. It would be beyond idiotic even then to assume everyone in China knew Kung Fu. But to assume everyone of any Asian heritage knows Kung Fu? That's just epically stupid.

I know next to nothing about martial arts but I have to imagine that the approach to Kung Fu even changes drastically depending on what region of China it's practitioner is from.
