Default Advice for rookie wanting to record solo music

Hey guys,

So I've been playing acoustic guitar for a few years now and I have gotten pretty good. I write some songs here and there and find it an enjoyable process. What I would like to play around with is recording.

Now I am a hobbyist but I would like to have the best possible sound I can with the resources I have available. I have GarageBand and audacity on my computer. I'm guessing garage band would be the better route. So firstly, does anyone have any tips and/or know of any great tutorials to help me out? I'm greener than a pine tree when it comes to this program. Is like to learn how to use it to my advantage for recording my voice and guitar, maybe adding other sounds from the program like drums etc.

Also I don't have any mics. I sometimes to interviews for a blog I run so I am also interested in having the best sound for those and my music. Does anyone know of the better options for an amateur, specifically the best set ups for great audio recording on a budget?

Now those are the key points I'm looking for. Great GarageBand tips and tutorials, and professional quality sound at the best price or bang for my buck if you will. I greatly appreciate your knowledge and help.
