Caught the pilot of the US version of
Shameless last night and it really might well be one of the best pilots I've seen in a very long time. There is so much story, depth, and characterization in the first episode that would slowly be revealed throughout the first season on any other show. Not only that but the writing is really solid, with scenes setup to make you think they'll end another way, but then just totally pulls the rug from out of your feet.
