So I walked twenty feet away to a bench nearby and I could smoke in peace without bothering anyone but passersby. Bam, new smoking spot. So I'd talk to her about it (politely I might add. Probably didn't need to tell you that but it makes a huge difference) and it's likely she'll find a new spot, especially since you two seem to already know and like each other.

The thing is, we don't know each other well, and she's quite a bit older than me. She's lived here a very long time and I don't feel I have the right to tell her where she should and shouldn't smoke her cigarettes (she's in the early stages of lung cancer, but that's none of my business lol) so I just smile and ask her how her day is, then hop upstairs and mind myself.
