Objectively, there hasn't been a pop star that has made a cultural impact or brought any innovations to music.
None of the pop stars out now have classic or iconic albums. None of the pop stars have made any significant contributions to music to be warranted a legend title or icon.
Popularity or Awards does not make someone an Icon or legend. Your music determines that and the people determines what is iconic or not, not the industry.
Every generation does not have to have a Icon or Legend and that is okay.
There has not been an Icon/legends since these stars Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Whitney and Janet Jackson all whom contributed something in some fashion to music or music videos.
