My friend made an excellent one out of an Ocean Spray bottle. The only issue is that whatever piece he'd used for a bowl from Home Depot was pure metal and got blazing hot after a while.
Oh yeah, back in military school my roommate tried to turn at least one pen into a pipe to smoke some aspirin. So not joking. Didn't work out too well.
