I don't have time to bother reading the entire thread but I'd like to say something.

I don't think many young kids today know about the hiphop pioneers but that doesn't mean they haven't made their mark on the industry and are not well respected within it. Even the mainstream artists of today, that I hate, acknowledge the greats of the past as inspirations. I don't understand how that inspiration translates into the garbage music they are making but at least they are still giving props to the great men and women before them.
