It's such a broad category and the only place it doesn't really fit is those suit and tie restaurants. Their food is often served in small portions and highly decorative, you're paying just as much for the presentation as you are the food. Rustic restaurants are way more about the food/atmosphere than showcasing food as an art.

Yeah, does that whole "food as art" thing make sense to anyone else? I don't get how putting two ounces of food on a square plate and then drizzling techni-colored sauce everywhere but on the food would make it taste better.
