I haven't played Dark Souls but i played Demon souls and its difficulty was the best thing about the game.
It's hard but not impossible to beat and once you do it's rewarding unlike Zelda 2 which is just hard.
And honestly even Zelda 2 is not that hard, ppl exaggerate its difficulty.
