I made an Amoeba Records run yesterday and was kind of taken aback at the lack of back stock. Pickin's were kinda slim and that is a drag because Amoeba is one of the very few retailers we have left in these parts. I keep hearing that this vinyl boom is causing records to be so expensive, there is just no margin of profit for the retailers. That's another thread though.

Thurston Moore - The Best Day - I've been a little leery of this based on previews but I'm such an SY fan, I've got to give it a shot.

Alice Coltrane - A Monastic Trio - Brand new re-release of Alice's debut solo record. One of her absolute best!

Cut Hands - Festival of the Dead - I finally own a William Bennett record. Whitehouse was always a little too harsh for me. This tribal craziness is much more in my Wheelhouse.

Gruppo d'improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza - Italian improv group from the 60's featuring Ennio Morricone and a bunch of other up and coming Italian composers. This was a 'Mystery Buy'...

Julee Cruise - Floating Into the Night - New LP re-release of this, one of two albums orchestrated by David Lynch and Angelo B. Hopefully the other one will get a vinyl release also. For Lynch heads.

Van Morrison - Hard Nose the Highway - I confess I bought this because of the cover - I tend to like cosmic covers like this. Hopefully the music will be equally odd.

Michael Franks - Objects of Desire - I know, pop jazz, but Michael Franks was always one of the best purveyors of pop, using only the cream of studio musicians, his 70's run of albums are impeccable. This is the first time I'm trying one of his 80's joints, but it was only a buck and I love me some Gauguin, so what the hell...

International Vicious Society 7 - I'm a sucker for these crazy garage compilations, but I got tired of trying to hunt down every volume of this and that, so now I just go by the covers - something tells me this is the one for me...
