Watership Down
I'd been holding off watching this for a while, because the book is one of my all-time favourites, and I was afraid it wouldn't adapt well to the screen. In a sense, it didn't - the plot was clipped and the philosophical aspect almost non-existent. However, the film was still entirely enjoyable. And when, at the most emotional moment, this started playing…
…I lost it. My first reaction was, "Oh my God, it's Art Garfunkel". I had no idea his music would be featured. Then I just started bawling. Until now, a movie had never brought me to tears. That alone will make watching it a memorable experience.
You don't need to have read the book to enjoy the movie, although I recommend you do - it's an entirely satisfying and thought-provoking read. Ultimately, I thought the film was faithful enough, while not trying to be an allegory. Solid
8/10.
Oh, and did I mention that I have Richard Adams' autograph?
