Sorry for the serious necromancy but I didn't want to start a new thread just for the sake of complaining about my dad, who hates all music except for Pink Floyd and the Cranberries. Any theories on why these particular artists would be the only palatable groups for someone in their mid-50s? He literally considers all other music to be noise. His brain does not process tunes or songs, either, but instead he hears music monotone, if that makes sense. As a child I one time heard him trying to sing the bridge of "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi (while drunk) but he was actually just saying the lyrics in a way so far from the melody of the song that it wasn't until earlier this year that I realized where it came from.
Puzzled. Seeking creative and insightful responses to this question.
