Dear Justin,

Thank you for your kind gift. Unfortunately, I am no fan of hip-hop as you know, and if I were to try to get into it I don't think I would consider Eminem a gateway artist. It would be, I think, akin to someone trying to get into metal via Cannibal Corpse or Suffocation who had only heard Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. The lyrics were at times hilarious, at others embarrassing, but “Kim” really disturbed me, to think he had a woman make all those scared, terrified sounds. Brrr! I knew “Stan” of course, and “The real Slim Shady” was tolerable, but in general this album (nineteen tracks: thanks!)

did not make me feel any better disposed towards this genre. Might I suggest socks next year?
