My advice would be don't give away trade secrets.

I think there is a difference between calling oneself stupid and admitting to making stupids mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, so they can't fault you for making mistakes as if they don't make mistakes themselves. If you call yourself stupid, people who didn't think that at first might start agreeing with you.
