But let's change the discussion, so we're not just going back and forth. Why do you think it is that men pressure other men to have a certain amount of sex? Does it really matter all that much? My guess is that it's because sex is such a powerful motivator, and it's ingrained into our bodies and minds. It is, after all, our species' way of reproducing, and our bodies really want us to remember that. So when someone feels the need to judge someone, sex is an easy way to measure their social success.
Well, to some extent, male promiscuity has an obvious evolutionary pressure on it: a man can impregnate several women in a short time, but a woman can only get pregnant about once every year or so (there's a refractory period post birth). So this gives males a great advantage in spreading offspring - as long as the male can manage to mate.

In flies, there's evidence that female promiscuity can increase the quality of offspring:

Revisiting telegony: offspring inherit an acquired characteristic of their mother's previous mate - Crean - 2014 - Ecology Letters - Wiley Online Library

But it's hard to know to what extent social factors override biological drives, and anyway, regardless of evolution, any person should be able to engage in polyamory and open sexuality as long as consent is present.
