Things like that tend to annoy the hell out of me, and im sure the same goes for many of the other members of this forum. That is why I was particularly hostile towards him.

Now on the other hand, I felt that I, along with the rest of the people who responded to his intro thread, welcomed him almost as if he werent a new member at all, but rather a returning "veteran". This is because he, unlike "Unitedbyrock" actually demonstrated that he had an expansive knowledge of music, and he didn't make elitist comments. In fact, I seem to remember him saying something to the effect of that he was here to expand his musical knowledge. (Correct me if I'm wrong on that, but it seems to be what I remember his attitude being like.)

So I, for one, will not change the way I welcome the newbies to the forum. If they come off as jackasses, and make stupid, elitist comments, then I'm going to treat them like an elitist, jackass. If they come off as a humble, nice person that is here to discuss music and learn more about music, like many of the newer members here, then I will treat them like a person who is also here to talk, and is also here to learn alongside them. Call me a jerk, call me anti-social, but I'm not going to go out of my way to welcome someone who acts like a total a-hole before they even know where the hell they are. Thats just me...
