Exactly. Every time I watch The Fountain I am drawn into such an uncomfortable emotional state (in a good way) that I don't want it to end. Do the visuals and the superb score gloss over some of the plots shortcomings? Of course they do but so do they in David Lynch films but that's OK because he is a genuine auteur
