Deathspell Omega seem to be the most respected third-wave black metal band, even though I've never been as big of a fan, but they play around with dissonance. Perhaps they'd be more your speed.
The vocals from Thorns aren't really what I'm looking for, neither is accessibility.
Deathspell Omega on the other hand seem worth checking out, the vocals aren't quite right either, but still cool and the music is great.
