Thorns are an older band (the guy behind it was actually one of the people to originally develop the Norwegian BM style of riffing), but Snorre was unfortunately caught up in Euronymous' murder and spent some time in prison, so he never got to release more than demos until he was released and managed to finally record a debut.

Thorns plays some more traditional black metal, but they seamlessly incorporate industrial elements that give the music a kind of "cyber black metal" thing. They never quite sound like traditional Norwegian black metal though.

And here's one of their more black metal tracks. Relatively speaking of course. Also much more accessible than Blut Aus Nord. Too bad they only released the one album, but it's fantastic.


Deathspell Omega seem to be the most respected third-wave black metal band, even though I've never been as big of a fan, but they play around with dissonance. Perhaps they'd be more your speed.
