Holy god, yes! I've been searching for a band as epic as Viking-era Bathory for years. I found a few that came at least somewhat close (Atlantean Kodex, Solstice, Doomsword), but nothing that ever quite scratched that itch in the same way that Quorthon could. I think my search may have finally yielded real fruit. I think I'm going to be listening to a lot of Falkenbach in the near future. Slow and heavy like Bathory, but not as heavy. They also seem to throw in a lot of folk influences and more complex arrangements that are quite delicious. Whereas Bathory are the epitome of Viking glory, Falkenbach seem to evoke a more mysterious, mythical atmosphere.
