Slash came along at a time when everyone was playing superstrats into huge racks and doing all of the whammy tappy whiddly diddly BS that had worn thin by that time. Here's a guy with a bare bones Les Paul plugged into a Marshall playing 70s style bad ass hard rock stuff.

I give him props for milking it for all it's worth although lately he comes across as kinda pathetic. Lose the hat dude.
