Ghost Deini, from
Supreme Clientele. The genius interpretation points out that the Gallant is a type of Mitsubishi, and that he has them lying in wait for some act of deviancy. However, the particular use of "Two Gallants," a story about two men trying to weasel gold - one doing the actual work, the other kind of tagging along - from a naive girl, reminds me of some of the narratives Ghost would tell, albeit much more mundane (as all of Joyce's work is essentially). I believe it references Joyce especially because Ghost's stream of consciousness is so akin to Joyce, full of free association, somewhat abstract innuendo as well as other bizarre uses of humor, and vivid imagery.
