I also split from my partner when my son was small; I let her have the house and I got the child. Although I was pretty pinched for time and money for about a decade, I always knew that I had the best side of the bargain. I think my only regret was that my son was an only child - he really could´ve used the companionship of a sibling to help see him through.( All his classmates seemed to come from model nuclear families like the Cosby Show or whatever.) Is your girl an only child too?
