I really like tennis, right? It's the only sport where I can sit for hours on end and be thoroughly engrossed. I get emotional, I yell and curse, I pump my fist in the air, all that ****. Love me some tennis.
But my mother is sapping all that away from me. Over the past year she's become the biggest tennis nerd I've ever seen. Like, she knows all the players' world rankings, she watches all the matches -- if she can't find them on TV, she'll watch them on the internet -- she goes on tennis websites and posts... wherever the hell you post tennis **** about. Twitter or something, I don't know.
And she just. Won't. Stop talking about it. Jesus ****ing Christ she won't stop! Sometimes during a tournament I'll be eating food in the kitchen and she'll corner me and just start going on and on and on about how much she loves Roger Federer, hates Milos Raonic, telling me who's playing at 1:42 in the morning, etc, etc, etc (and oh my ****ing god I had no desire to know that she thinks Andy Murray is "cute" *shudder*). I try to make conversation at first, but eventually I'm just standing there eating my cereal trying to look vaguely interested and nodding every thirty seconds or so.
I just want to interrupt her and start talking about what an awesome comic book series Thor: God of Thunder was, and OMG the God Butcher/Godbomb story arc was just amazing, and Jason Aaron is a ****ing genius -- if anyone can make female Thor work, it's him -- and Esad Ribic's artwork just felt like mythology come to life!
